Aluminium interior trim damage

Ok just wondered if someone could help me out... The aluminium trim around gearstick dash etc has started to look scruffy, scratches a few indentations etc and I was wondered how to go about fixing this.

Is it possible to just sand or not as it has a brushed finish??
 
You will never get it to match the other panels if you sand it, you would have to do all three bits but even then it's unlikely they will match. Best bet is to cover with vinyl or paint gloss black if you like that look. Which ever method you go for will require some effort and patience.

You only other option is to buy a replacement bit.
 
You could try and rub a little baby/olive oil into the scratches. Works for oven tops so you never know...try on a small area first though just on case!
 
Sorry that was a bit cryptic - I meant srhutch taking offers on his interior, he may take it out when he sells his car.
 
Just a little and somewhere discreet first! Wouldn't want to make it worse for you as it's as yet untried on Zed interior! Failing that I'd look at sanding options.
 
I don't think sanding is the answer. The standard brushed finish has an anodised coating which will simply give way to shiny aluminium if removed.

As srhutch says, its a choice of replacement, removal and re-spraying or removal and wrapping (maybe Carbon or similar) :thumbsup:
 
I have the red leather so my carpets dash top etc.. If I went down the carbon or black route I would want the rest black, do you think it's wrap-able guys??
 
Sanding and matt lacquer could work if done properly. Or I guess you could get it sandblasted and re-anodised - even in the colour of your choice if you can find somebody to do it. Otherwise wrapping is your only real option left other than replacement. Should be okay to wrap and there should be a thread somewhere where it's been done before.
