Altering nav and music volume

When I have music playing (from usb) and use the sat nav, it annoys me when trying to alter the individual volumes. If I want to alter the sat nav volume I have to wait for it to speak and change it at that point. If I press the volume button in to turn off the music (is this how it is meant to be done or is this just muting it?) I still cannot alter the sat nav volume until it speaks.

Surely there is a better way to alter individual volumes?

Not sure if this is the correct way to do this, but on mine, if I select the 2nd icon down, on the nav's left menu, which is spoken instruction ON or OFF, when you click that off then on again, she speaks, and that's when I adjust it.

Sure others will chip in on another method?

Does it in Leeds too. Elland Road ground. Does hills too, but they're not accurate.
