Alpenstrasse

Hi all,

I am in the mist of planning a road trip for the start of September and we have decided to drive the Alpenstrasse. We will be taking the ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge and dropping down to Lindau and that is all I have so far! We plan to finish in Salzburg and are open to where we visit in-between, either on the Alpenstrasse or into the Black Forest.

We are taking 2 weeks for the round trip, so we have plenty of time for diversions or stopovers

So if anyone has done this route or driven in and around Southern Germany - any suggestions of places to visit or avoid?

I'm doing a similar route, setting off the 29th of this month but sailing Harwich to Hook then driving down through holland into Germany then Austria for the alps and the Stelvio Pass! We are actually continuing down to italy for the GP at Monza, but yeah I'm also interested to hear any good driving roads around these parts!
