Alloys let it down! :-(

I'm going to see a zed on Saturday, if things go well then I'll be bringing her home. :D
It's a 3.0 in grey 03 plate, sitting on Ellipsoid alloys with nearly new falken tyres.
Problem is the alloys are in a desperate need of a refurb. :|
my dilemma is do I get them done with a possible colour change, maybe shadow/black chrome, gloss black, gunmetal? Then add spacers 12/15mm front & 20mm rear.
Or do I look elsewhere for a new/used set of 18" or 19"?
Csl's always catch my eye.
Look forward to your opinions

Wheel colour is a very personal choice - dark can look ok on grey though.

I don't believe genuine CSLs will fit non-Ms - though if I am wrong someone will be real fast to correct me :D you could get reps in the right sizes though.

Spacers look right for OEM staggered wheels - I have 15 front 20 rear. TBH 12 may be better as I get some rubbing up front, though my car is lowered.

Good luck on Saturday

The offset of OEM CSLs won't fit a standard Z. But there are loads of good reps. I have a set if gunmetal grey 224s and they look awful IMO but other people seem to like them. Def a personal choice.

i tried my genuine CSLs on my friends 3.0 l coupe.... they definitely fit..... youd just need to use a narrower tyre and add alittle camber... They 100% worked however, we ran the car for the evening on them and went to this back lane pub, they rubbed on extreme compressions but again with correct tyre and added camber to tuck the wheels in slightly they defo work.

With a bit of patience and sense you'll be able to buy some cheap wheels you like and sell the ones you don't. Wheels wouldn't put me off a car personally, they're one of the easiest things to change and one of few things that, as above, if you're clever won't cost you much/anything.

The alloys won't put me off, im 99% certain I'll buy the car if the adverts right.
I like the Ellipsoid alloys & I like the idea of changing the colour of them. Just wanted other members thoughts as I'm a bit of a novice with a zed
Cheers

I personally don't like coloured alloys, I would get them refurbished to their original silver finish, to me then they would look great and really compliment the car as they are nice wheels.

I had, a set of 107 Ellipsoids, on my Silver 3.0 Z4.
I bought them, off a fellow forum member and ad them: fully stripped; shot blasted and then Powder Coated, in a Gloss Black finish.. They looked awesome on the car..
Colour changing can look good on certain colour cars and certain wheels..

In your case, if happy with the car: buy it; drive it and get used to it, for a few weeks, before refurbishing the wheels in the standard or a one off colour.. Best of luck either way and don't forget, pics before and after..

Cheers
