Alloy Refurb

Hello,

I am brand new to this forum, and today I became a proud 'Z' owner.

The Z ive purchased needs some work on the alloys. My query is would it be better to refurb or replace? I've seen these can be re coated but I am unsure of who/what/where

For anyone who is interested, I've purchased a black, with Red interior 3.0ltr roadster.

Thanks in advance

Welcome  I just had my 224 refurbed rather than buy a new set. Loads of places to go for this and as long as the wheels are not damaged then a good result can be had for a cheaper cost than another set of wheels.

Welcome to the forum . There are lots of companies offering refurbs. from low cost "do it at your place" to the more professional outfits who carry out a full restrip powder coat and cure. Depends on where you live. You will get some recommendations based on what area you are in.

Best to give your location as there could be a forum member who can point you in the right direction
& don't forget pics of your Z  we like to see them
Welcome to the forum

I've also bought one recently from another forum member, it's got 108s on at the moment and I'm looking at getting them refurb'ed somewhere in Leeds. Which wheels have you got?

This thread suggested somewhere in York, I'm going to get some quotes in Leeds first and see how they compare

Guys im in hull if It's not to far to travel there's only one real place in hull that will split the rims and have a diamond Polisher, the other alloy refund company's recommended them

Called "wheel em in "

£360 for all 4 split and powered coated both parts , different silver to give the polished alloy effect

Or

£480 for all 4 split and diamond polished rim, lacquered And powdered coated centres

I went for a quote and He Suggested the cheaper powder coated both parts.

He said with diamond Polishing and lacquering the rim 6 month Later the water will start to get under they lacquer at the split section and start to peel the lacquer and oxidise the alloy.

Suprisingly the owner of the company has a roadster with 108's on and showed me his to prove, they were corroding already after 8 months but as the owner it doesn't cost Him Anything to keep doing.

£360 sounds like a good deal for them to be split and powder coated, that's what I would be going for I definitely wouldn't
have them polished and lacquered not when you can get virtually the same results from powder coating which lasts for
ages, Dont forget to stick some pictures up when they are done

£360 is what I am paying to have a set of 108s refurbed in Bristol. Waiting on the results, should have them back early next week.
