Alloy Dilemma

Hello everyone,

So i've recently purchased a newer set of 108 alloys for my Z Roadster, to replace my current 108's from a kind forum member Zoomer

My current wheels are shot and in desperate need of refurb, with trashy no mark tyre's on them.

The dilemma i face is do i just sell these on or have a bash at refurbing them. The Z will be packed away in winter, so i have no need for an additional winter set, so after refurbing these i would probably end up selling them anyway.

My idea around refurbishing them myself, is to gain some valuable experience in case i need to do this in the future

Thoughts anyone?

Cheers

place in Birmingham refurbed my 108's for £20 each and did a cracking job I've had 3 sets of other wheels done their since and will get others done their when I need them doing.

google city powder coaters or look on their facebook page

unless your selling on at a huge profit id leave them as they are and next buyer can refurb them. These wheels are made by BBS ive seen a few refurbed that just ruined them either done all black or in a dodgy silver. Even seen some where they sprayed over the bolts which just ruined them more.

It's a lot of work and probably not worth the effort unless you're planning on keeping them (or have masses of spare time!).

£20! It's worth me driving down there with mine! Any pics, and did they have to repair any damage on them?

I can dig some pics out but there on my laptop at home so wont be until later. Yeah they repair before painting by filling and reshaping if needed etc. They had just finished another 108 set and all bolts were removed etc before paint its done properly. It's £20 for regular paint and £30 for special colours. Trust me I'd heard about these for years before and was sceptical myself so never used them u just think for £20 each must be crap work. It wasn't until my mate paid £300 for his to be done somewhere else then not long after the paint faded and looked odd compared to the others which hadn't been done. So he took his their first and had all 4 painted I seen his results and went straight down to get mine down. Had 4 sets done there now in total I asked how they can do them so cheap and they basically tuned around and pointed to the pile that had been left that day. It was then I realised these boys are just undercutting everyone and taking all the Birmingham business which is why its possible. There must of been at least 10 sets of alloys dropped off that day to be done. They take about 4 days to do them so I normally just drop them off on a Saturday and go back following weekend to pick up as I'm normally at work. If you look on facebook you should see examples

Jeez
I just had my 108,s done in Manchester
And they did a poor job they split them then powder coated over the bolts
I only paid half there asking price and lesson learned .
I will bear these in mind when I have mine done again . Don't mind traveling for a top quality
Job done .
