Since getting my 3.0i I was a bit disappointed in its general dynamics.
However, I was advised (thanks guys) that tyres would make a big difference, so prior to sticking on some new F1s, I decided to check out my current set-up.
(no point in scrubbing new rubber, until I tested it with the old)
Front l/h was in spec, R/H was 2.5mm toe in, front camber l/h was in spec, -1.3 r/h.
Caster varied from 4.0 to 6.0 across the car
Rear camber ok both, but toe in 1.4mm r/h.
Car reset to the following
front toe - 0.3mm in both sides
front camber - -1.3 both sides (.33 = 1/3 = 20 minutes - approx)
caster - +5.3 both sides (pulled in itself whenever toe and camber where adjusted)
rear camber -2.5 both sides
toe = unchanged - zero l/h, in 1.4 r/h (couldn't work out how to easily adjust toe without affecting camber, pushed for time, so just left as is, but will review as soon as I get a bit of free time.)
(Obviously all measurements whilst accurate, are fairly approx - the car is for road use, so like yours, it has no rose joints - give it another bounce and everything varies slightly. All adjustments with me (13stone) in the drivers seat, and car about 50% fuelled)
Result. (car still on worn runflats)
Much lighter on it's feet - better feel, no pulling to the left, still some (but improved) tramlining / bump steer.
Braking feel is at least as good, although I actually think it's better.
To be honest, it is just so much nicer to drive.
(I need to see what effect on tyre wear front camber has - will advise)
