Loved the coupe, now the roadster version is out. Pure automotive art.

$299k though, could think of other cars I'd rather have, it is quite nice though. Ferrari 430 for less :)

Totally agree, at $299K there are so many awesome cars to choose from. Would personnaly go for an Aston Martin DBS if I was throwing out that much $.

Wonder why they have limited production so much as well, I'm sure they could have sold more if they wanted to. Hmmm, suppose it keeps the exclusivity.

But it's soooooo beautiful! In comparison the F430 is a greasy-haired, obese Jeremy Kyle guest.

its a pretty car, but even as a huge alfa fan it seems very wrong. surely they should have priced it at about £90k and sold 4 times as many.

pretty it is, 299k it isnt

Could i get something faster, better driving and probably more reliable with that kind of money? Yes, i could. Would i want to? No i probably wouldn't. Simply gorgeous.

Have to agree with ga41 - there comes a point with cars (very expensive ones) that your heart takes over. It isn't always about ultimate power or handling or even reliability. I've been lucky enough to drive a lot of nice cars though my (second) job - Astons, most modern Ferraris (612, 599, 430, 430Fi, 360), Pagani, Merc AMG Black and a few other things. For all the nice cars I've driven, few have the passion and character of Italian cars. Having driven a 430F1 at some, er, questionable speed ( :) ) - I got it - I really got it, why people are drawn back to these cars time and again and why they install such passion and reverence in their fans and owners.

I've not yet driven an 8C (there's only one on the press fleet and trying to prise it out of their hands is not easy!), but I have seen one of the road and it is a truly beautiful creation. I'm a self confessed Italian car nut - I love Alfa's for their quirkiness and character (my everyday car is an Alfa) and to see them once again building cars like this is fantastic (never forget that Enzo Ferrari started out in the Alfa Romeo racing team too!). If you're lucky enough to own one, I think you know you will be driving something very special.

ChrisL, may ask two small indiscreet questions? What's your second job and are they hiring?? :D

:-) Sorry forgot to reply :)

I work with a mate of mine on his magazine. I'm the Motoring Editor, so we get a fair few cars thrown our way. Ferrari have always been great (although, curiously, trying to get a car out of Audi is damn near impossible!) - Aston and Bentley are always up for lending out cars too. If ever there was a case of 'you never know what you get until you ask' - it's this job. Given half a chance, I'd do it full time, but IT pays a lot better, so I do this on the side for a favour. Stand out trips for me were going to Pagani in Italy and the Budapest to London run for Ferrari (in a 612 :P )

We're also involved in BTCC - Harry Vaulkhard (http://www.bamboo-engineering.com/btcc) - You can see our logo on the bumpers ('The Player') - which means I can go to those meets when I want to as well. So much nicer going to Goodwood FoS with a press pass & decent parking where you don't have to queue for hours to get in and out!
