Alfa GT

Hi Guys,

Looking for a bit of advise. Once again I'm thinking of getting something a little more practicable. The only car that is interesting me at the moment is the Alfa GT with a 1.9 diesel. Have any of you owned one of these in the past? I would really appreciate your opinions.

Thanks

Sean

Had one before the Z4.Owned it from when it was 6 months old and kept it for a year.Had it re-mapped to 190bhp and more torque than a battleship. It was a Q2,so it had the limited slip diff which was essential to try to transmit all that torque through a FWD set up.Loved it as it was very fast and had loads of space. It is the best engine to have in the GT as it returned 55mpg despite a heavy right foot.Good luck.

Thanks Micz4, did you have any reliability issues? I have heard horror stories about timing belts and water pumps.

It was only a year and a half old when i sold it,only because i wanted a roadster.I had no problems at all but can't offer any experience of longevity as it had only done 15000 miles.Sorry.

My colleague has the diesel one, and he hasn't got any problem with it. His car is now 6 years old.

Guy at work got rid of his earlier this year, very positive about it, never had any issues just wanted a change.

Thanks for the feedback guys. But every time I think I've come up with a replacement for Mr. Z I come across a nice stretch of road and I fall in love again :-( . TBH I'll probably only let it go for a 3L Coupe (€1,500 road tax per year over here!).
