Alcantara cleaning

Sorry if there's a thread for this, I've had a quick look and can only find a post by Sars about using a clean white cloth.

Is there anything anyone can recommend to use for cleaning the Alcantara? I've got a nice dark patch on the inside of the drivers door where they have been in fitting the parking sensors switch.
I will have a go with the cloth just on its own but wondered if there's anything anyone has used that does the trick?

Cheers guys.

I use the below. Works nicely. There's a moment where it all looks a bit scary as the material absorbs water, but once dried, looks plush and clean.

I bought it specially for this purpose as its a gentle hand wash detergent after advice on another forum. Cheaper than alcantara cleaner, and works just the same...

Sainsburys sell it.

Brilliant, thanks guys

Didn't know there was an Alcantara website.

Woolite?! I've got some of that already, (for me delicates!!) I'll give it a go.

Great find about the Alcantara website, as I was wondering how to keep my new steering wheel nice and clean!

The stain removal part is particularly interesting, although I'm hoping to never have to test their methods for removing yoghurt, jam or custard

Or faeces for that matter... :o

if you want a proper cleaner if the woolite doesnt work well

BMW do an alacantra cleaner which is decent, raceglaze also do a very good one

both cost around £15 for 250ml i think

Does BMW use Alcantara®, amaretta, or some other 'synthetic suede'?

I just use a damp cloth (soaked in upholstery shampoo and wrung out) and then use a suede brush to smarten the pile.

Car upholstery is usually very robust, i would agree with mmm-five and a damp cloth with upholstery shampoo and wipe would do a good job, just make sure you do a whole panel to avoid drying marks and then brush to reset the pile.

The white alcantara is a 'mare especially as the seatbelt rubs on it :headbang:

See, shite design :poke:

Whatever happened to the seatbelt guides ala the E85 ???? They would have prevented this problem!!!!

Er, yeah. The faeces are a nightmare to clean off in my car :tumbleweed:

Surprised you didn't need some help with faeces after the Braemar run (the one you remembered) after you 'found a way' past that traffic :D

Shambolic - at least you're not surprised to find a shite design somewhere on your BMW though

I wanted the white upholstery when I bought mine but the sales fella talked me out of it - He seems to have been telling the truth!

I still think it looks best tho

Just bought a new zed with Alcantara and found all hints and tips very helpful. Can anyone recommend a leather cleaner that keeps the matt finish?
