Alarm retrofit?

Anyone ever put in an alarm retrofit? It is like the e90, already prewired?

Siren/tilt sensor, bracket, and two door hypersonic sensors?
Coding?

Built in alarm uses car horn, it sounds pathetic.
Needs air horn inside the cabin.

I just wonder how many Zed have been stolen, is it worth the effort.

System uses the various door locks, bonnet switch, not switch, two microwave sensors and an integrated tilt / siren unit with a sophisticated immobiliser…what else do you need?

Parts seem to be pretty ubiquitous to the 335i and other models. So there's plenty on ebay in a previously loved condition.

I picked up sensors for $15 each, the seals for $4 each the metal enclosure for $16, and the siren/tilt for $24... mathing that up... $78 to retrofit the alarm -- why not?

Just need to see how the e90 coding example translates to E89

Errr.. because the system is already fitted?

the Queen's English phrasing is... 'getting nicked'.
Think that has now been 'rebranded' as the King's English. Admittedly, it's hard to get used to after that amount of time! :D

Maybe the US market doesn't have an alarm as standard. I understand there is very little crime in America, so probably no need really.

Crime in America has been going down since 1776.
:fuelfire:

The aforementioned alarm is present on my 35is.

Put the roof down, lock the car and then reach in side for something on seat, it should go off.

No alarm on mine. (or broken...) - Grabbing something from the inside doesn't set anything off.

Sadly, that’s correct. Equally sad that conservative states send their homeless and criminals on a one-way ticket to San Fran. Go figure.

Need another video ?

On to the task... question.

I've installed the Alarm siren/tilt sensor and bracket. (yelllow) the x is where a connector needs to go. Are one of the horns sacrificed when an alarm is installed (blue). What is the sensor circled in red? it seems like the only connectors nearby in the current loom.

Perhaps someone with a factory installed alarm could comment or look if you have a chance?

The door sensor connectors were there to be utilized... I assumed that BMW would have not left the last bit unfinished for those that wanted an alarm install DIO.

RealOEM shows the main wiring harness for a 2011 35i with something that look like it goes to the alarm (yellow), Horns (blue), temp sensor (green)
