Alarm problems- not the hood switch

Help!

It's official- if my factory roadster alarm goes off one more time at 2am for no reason, my neighbors are going to riot.

This has happened every few months since that &$@% thing was installed. I unplugged the hood/bonnet switch weeks ago, as most threads here said it was the likely culprit. I haven't replaced that unplugged switch yet, but the alarm continues to activate for no reason. It does it every few weeks, usually more than once per night. Once again tonight, in the middle of the night, the alarm goes off. Twice within 10 minutes. I checked the car; nothing disturbed it.

I hate, hate, HATE BMW for wiring this car in such a manner that my local authorized Viper alarm dealer could not install a proper alarm in the car, despite trying for 2 days, with the help of Viper factory install tech support on the phone. I instead had to settle for BMW's own crappy system.

End of half-awake, 2 AM rant/plea for help.

Have you checked the battery? Some on here report alarm faults which are linked to a failed/failing battery....

could be the tilt sensor that is under that oddments try behind the handbrake?

The battery is relatively new (less than 2 years) though I guess I could get it checked to be sure it has no bad cells.

Is there a way to test this part? By unplugging the hood switch, I thought I had solved the issue, as it didn't go off for weeks. Then, all of a sudden, it starts acting up again in the middle of the night. I may price it and if it isn't expensive, I could replace it. I bet it's a pain to get to, though, right? I don't have the oddments tray; instead I have the BMW assist buttons under a clear flip panel.

I hate that the "test" method I'm using may not reveal the results of the test for months. I wish there was a way to tell instantly if this was causing the problem. My local stealership knows less about my car than I do, as I've learned from several service appointments with them. So, they would be no help.
