Alarm going off at random (and PDC problems too)

As above the alarm has started going off at random on my wife's 2003 (53) 2.5i, sometimes a few seconds after locking the car, sometimes a few minutes and this morning at 4AM, a good 36 hours after.

Has anyone else had this problem, and is it easy to solve?

Also there's an intermittent fault on the PDC where it will give the constant tone as if you're very close to an object as soon as you put it in reverse. Is this likely to be an independent issue or indicative of the entire electrical system going on the blink?

TIA.

EDIT: I can't remember, but I think the alarm problem has only started since I fitted the Aux kit - is there any way this could have caused it? The PDC issue started before that though.

doubt the AUC had anything to do with the alarm :?

Alarm is probably your bonnet sensor - the usual culprit... Cost about £10 from your local stealer, 1 minute job to fit. You can diagnose by disconnecting the sensor itself and see if the annoyance stops...

no idea about PDC...

The tone you hear on the pdc of a constant beep when you engage it and then nothing is the systems way of telling you it's faulty.

Chances are one of the 4 sensors is broken, dirty or loose connection.

Engage reverse with ignition on, hear the tone, then put your ear to each sensor. There should be a clear audible clicking. 99% that's the faulty one
