Alarm goes off when heavy rain

The alarm went off 2 to 3 times when it was raining heavily. Did it happen to your E89? Does anyone know the cause? Will it be caused by water leaking from the gap between A-pillar and window glass into the car?

Don't think water would cause it. What about motion sensors, was it getting blown about?

Not sure. The motion sensors are at footwell area. What will trigger the sensors?

No, not had this on mine. My understanding is that the interior sensor is volumetric so it would have to take a change in volume to set if off? :? Are you getting lots of water in at the a-pillar? :?

Mine seems to be quite sensitive about the bonnet being closed properly - sometimes complains after I've had it open to top up windscreen washer fluid. I usually need to make sure its firmly closed or else it warns me. Could it be something like that maybe triggering the alarm?

Where are the motion sensors? I thought they were up where the interior light is located?

Water is only dripping down when the door is opened. But I think the black rubber trim along the top window frame should prevent it. The alarm only went off 3 times when it was raining heavily. No water goes into the car even I use pressure washer against windows at reasonable distance.

The owner manual says sensors detect movement in footwell area.

Yeah - I always get a few drips of rain entering the cabin from the a-pillar when opening the door when the car is wet.

Not had any alarm problems with rain or water.
Only when hosing to wash against the seal from back to front I get some ingress between front and back windows.
Only convertible I've had with no leaks so far
