Airbag won't dettach..

My re-trimmed steering wheel has arrived from Royal Steering Wheels and am trying to remove the old steering wheel to replace.

Followed instructions to unclip the airbag, inserted a screwdriver into the 2 holes on the back of the wheel. The left side pops out absolutely fine but whatever I try, the right side will just not unclip. Have shone a torch down the 2 holes and I'm sure they look different inside.

Have had a local garage have a look and they can't get it off, so short of going to a bmw dealer, any ideas?

I took me a few goes to get one side of mine off as well...

I just kept at it until (I think in a fit of rage is despair) I managed to get it...

Annoying little thing....

Cue, loads of people saying "mine just popped off"

That's what I thought, the left hand side did "just pop off" but after 45 mins of trying the right wouldn't budge, plus garage couldnt get it shifted either..

I'd phone Royal and ask them for some tips

Have you tried putting the left side back in place and detaching the right side first as the left comes off ok ?

Yep, re-attached that side and no luck. Such a pain as should be able to do it all myself, but it's now booked in to have it done by BMW

Did you disconnect battery for approx 30 mins before removing steering wheel. I have BMW software to remove light if you need help

Going down to Listers in Boston as they're closer from where I am. They've quoted £55 (30 mins) so could be worse!
