Airbag module coding?

Hello :)

I’ve posted here before with an issue with one of my airbag modules, after a lot of searching I was able to find a replacement part however it’s used module. Was able to get it fitted but I’ve been to multiple garages now that have claimed they can code it to my chassis number but all have later admitted they can’t.

My understanding is that it’s possible but seems to be only certain software that can do so.

Does anyone know of a place that had actually been able to code these? I’m based in Oxfordshire but willing to drive almost anywhere to get this fixed.

Thank you in advance :)

[ref]meatycabbage[/ref], you have possibly the worst timing in the world!
I'm in Norfolk, but yesterday did a trip to Reading (brake calliper change) then on to Thame for an airbag module coding. The garage happily let me do it as they hadn't a clue. In fact, they diagnosed the centre module but I discovered the left satellite module was duff as well. Both successfully replaced and coded.
Minor confusion as I still had an airbag light but eventually discovered the garage had disconnected the passenger seat too. :headbang:

Sadly for you, I won't be heading down that way any time soon, but if you want to head to me I can help out.

Before you do, tell me which module and which part number, as it would be useful if I had a standby just in case yours doesn't work.

Forget that. I just found our previous discussion back in February where I gave you the list of numbers you could use. I did suggest then that I could help you code it.
Which number did you end up with?

I don't have any matching those so you'd be hoping yours was a good'un.

Oh wow thanks for the quick reply, would have been good timing getting it fixed this weekend

I was able to find a 65776928571 module. The first garage fitted it but kept saying whenever they tried to change the number it just changed back so I assume it’s somewhat functional. Would there be a good day/time to head on up?

You're lucky to get one of those! Very rare to find for some reason.
I could sell it ten times over to my waiting list.

I'm guessing a weekend would be easier for you?
If it is a good one with no dodgy history then it's a 30 minute job.
Free all next weekend if that helps.
I can also do week days if that works for you?

Oh, and if you still have the old one and don't want it, please bring it with you. No-one currently repairs the satellite modules, but I'm keeping old ones just in case I can find someone who can in the future.

Yes I still have the old one!

Im owed a day off so might be able to use it mid week I’ll have to check tomorrow. Is there a better way to contact you?

I've just PM'd you my mobile number.

In the interests of complete openness, both to you and others reading this who may need assistance, I would ask you for a contribution as it enables me to buy up more modules for my stock to hopefully help others in the future.
However, given the distance you are having to travel, should the module not be any good (fingers crossed that doesn't happen), then there'll be no outlay for you other than your fuel and a wasted trip.

You know when you formulate a picture in your head of someone?
Well, Mr [ref]meatycabbage[/ref] didn't look like one! In fact, he looked quite normal.
All the way from Oxfordshire to Norfolk in the hope we could sort his airbag light! When it was sorted in 20 minutes I felt kind of guilty and wondered if maybe I should faff about a bit longer to make him feel the journey was worthwhile.
Anyway, another happy owner on his way home with a light-free dash.

I picked this username when I was 13 and I’ll happily stick with it for years to come

Still in disbelief it’s fixed, a feel good playlist and the biggest smile on my face driving back!

Can’t thank/ recommend you enough.

Absolutely no problem at all.
Just to confirm, do you have a replacement module ?

Just PM'd you.

Yes, I have a replacement module, I have put the detail in my reply to your PM.
That all looks good. i have sent you a whatsapp message. As long as the replacement module is a good one we should have no issues.

Would just like to say a big thank you to enuff_zed for his help yesterday in fitting and coding my air bag model and the other tips he passed on.
It's strange, but I had to keep reminding myself it had been fixes as the air bag light was not on which had be come the norm!!

Thanks for the feedback. Good to finally meet you and your lovely 3.0i. The Alpina front bumper looks great, but next time remember to reverse up my drive.
