Air Filter - True or False

Oiled or Dry ?
Some say that an oiled filter medium (ie K&N) will coat the mass air sensor wire and cause problems.

I would appreciate some real world experience via the Collective Forum Intelligentsia.

Cheers and Thanks

ps Real World means you have actually used an oiled filter in your Zed.
I have used them in carburetted Harley Davidsons with no issues, but you can't compare that level of technology with a Zed.

i used a pipercross filter in my previous car (clio 172) for 12 years and cleaned and used the dirt agent every year. Nothing went wrong

Ran a correctly oiled K&N in my Zed for at least 5 years with no harm.
Would I buy one - no - I'd just stick to replaceable stock paper filter and save the money.
I just keep it as I have all the kit on the shelf to clean and oil

k&n say their filters won't harm the maf sensor,if any warranty claim's turned down concerning their filters they will get involved to resolve any issues.

I've been considering to do just that, i.e. Save money. Decent filters are about £12 a pop so cover the k&n cost in 3 years assuming replacement once a year.
The hassle of cleaning and re-oiling though...

I tans K&N panel filter for years no issue, now run a cone K&N filter as part of the supercharger kit which sucks more are in and no issues.

£40 for the filter and £10 for the oil kit. Probably break even after 5 years but it's hardly a big argument either way.
As you say it's oiling and also if you believe they benefit airflow or allow more dirt in

I've always used oiled cone filters, never had an issue. If I get one now I've said this though I won't be impressed!

There doesn't seem to be much in it... I have defo found them for £30odd online last I looked. Might have been CP4Less with promo though
