Hi I bought my e85 z4 2.2i se roughly a year ago and up until recently everything has worked brilliantly recently the heater control panel has stopped working but the fan speed control still works but won’t change direction

I first noticed it when the little green lights on the panel stopped working and the surrounding ones also stopped working I can’t change how hot the fans are blowing they are allways stuck on max heat .

The windscreen demist still works but nothing else does

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Welcome.
I'd suggest the easiest answer here would be diagnosis by substitution.
Plug another panel in and see what happens.

Hi thank you for the suggestion I have just plugged in another control unit and it seems that it has not fixed the problem I’ve swapped the fuses as-well and it’s not them

I'd scan the ones you have connected for faults. There might be something reported (like an error with the heat blend flap or something) that will direct your investigations

Very good point. Scan both and if they both show the same fault it's a good pointer.

I’ve scanned the obd before but it won’t come up with any code at all it’s so strange the fans still work but I have no clue on what’s going wrong I have a new control panel on order because I was not careful enough when taking it out could it be somthing to do with the final stage resistor ( hedgehog resistor ) I see a lot of videos about that being a common failure point

Maybe it is also out of ac gas but I doubt that is the problem it’s really confusing becuase other stuff like the rear window heating won’t work either

Thanks for the ideas so far

IME, hedgehog failure doesn't lock up the heater panel, it just either stops the fan working or lets the fan run on until its flattened the battery.

If you've only got a generic OBD reader, it won't tell you much. You probably need a posher one or to get hold of INPA - my money's on it being a KBUS problem.
