bm have said they recomend i regas my aircon when its infor service tomorrow- there isnt a prob withit and it doesnt smeelshould i do it or wait till ithink it needs done.

paddy - you been sniffing the aircon gas by any chance??

Unless there's a problem with the aircon I'd keep my money in my pocket

They might mean that you need more of the gas/refrigerant in your a/c system - "charging". Over here in the US I know they sell cans of R-134a in the store, but I don't know if I'd want to re-charge my a/c using one of those. A lot cheaper than the dealer though.

Just a thought. If it still works anyway, I wouldn't do anything to it either.

I am always weary of such recommendations and at the end of the day it is up to you whether you think your aircon is performing to a level you require. However on my old car I was amazed what difference it made. An independent aircon engineer took pre and post re-gas readings and there was several degrees difference between the outputs. His suggestion was that as the aircon becomes marginally less effective each day so you never really notice it ebbing away but when you get the sudden leap in performance you will feel it.

Personally I would wait until summer and see whether you really need it. Its cold now anyway

Even if it does need doing, take it to a independant, they will charge about £60, dread to think what BMW want to do it.

bm want £85. I didnt bother- gonna leave it till the summer- besides ive got natural air-con just drop the roof!
