Air bag sensor passenger side

Afternoon all,

After a fair bit of frustration I have finally identified a problem with the SRS on my 2004 2.2 Z4. The air bag light has been on for some time now. The issue is with the satellite sensor which is not communicating with the central module. Either it's dead or there is a wiring problem. :(

The part number is 65.77-6945157 SBSL 220 4353-19.

I have been advised that the module out of the 5 series will fit to replace it, however they seem to have different part numbers. Can anyone shed some light on which modules will be compatible?? :|

Many thanks!!

Satellite sensor?

I have not heard of this. AFAIK, the SRS system is comprised of;

Impact sensors (deceleration sensors)
Seat occupancy sensor(s)
Airbags
Control module

I guess the satellite sensor you speak of could be one of the impact sensors?

If so, have a look at them, sometimes they get wet and give up the ghost.

I've got a spare one I believe?

The Satelite sensor is what it shows up as in INPA/DIS.

it's the one under the carpet behind the passenger seat.

Hi,
The fella who checked the fault refered to it as the satalite sensor, although he did also mention impact and rollover senors as well. I have removed the unit from the car now, it was located at the rear of the passenger seat under the carpet and plastic trim. It may have got wet during the winter as there is some evidence of corrosion on the outside of the box, not sure if it can be bench tested?

Any idea about comparability of other models as a new one of these is over £300 apparently. :o

As I say.. I'm sure I've got a spare one in perfect condition, if you're interested?

I'll double check it's existence tonight and get back to you about it!

I'm 99% sure I have one, just want to be sure!
