Got the car a few days ago. Having looked at the bonnet its very obvious the previous owners left a huge birdshit to fester for probably a few years. The clearcoat seems to have etched and there are two very obvious remnants of bird s**t imprints.

Pretty gutted actually as its very obvious on the sapphire black!

What can be done? Mobile chip repair? Detailer? Bonnet respray?

I'll take a pic in the morning for you guys.

I had planned to make the car chip free and in tip top condition by january. Partly due to me wanting it look mint for my wedding in Jan nextyear.

I live in wolves, so if anyone can be recommended in my neck of the woods then recommend away!

Frankly if the bird lime has etched the clearcoat then it's serious. You could go to a professional paint shop and see if they consider it can be buffed out, which depends upon if it's gone through the clearcoat or just etched it.

Beyond that I would certainly go for a full bonnet respray and probably feather it into the wings too for colour match. It's the most obvious place on the car any any touch in repairs will show themselves in a few months as they age, you polish it, etc.

That sucks!

Unfortunately it's nowhere near you but a local paintshop did some work on my car recently - with excellent results! What might help... I got a quote recently for a bonnet dent removal and respray which came in at £300... with the bonnet you do need to get on and do the whole thing.

I found the guys that I used on PH... you may want to have a look / post on Detailing World... http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php they may have a better idea of whether you need to respray.
If you go to DW get in, get the information and get out! Don't get drawn into their obsessive ways!

I had a stain that looked like old birds muck on the vertical bit of the front wing, about a foot in front of the wing mirror, above the repeater. It was a rust colour stain and and you could feel the difference throught the cloth when cleaning and waxing.

I clayed the whole car last weekend and, with a bit of extra attention and perseverance on that spot, it came out a treat. A good polish and wax finished it up nicely. Its possible it wasnt guano de pigeon, but the proximity to the mirror suggested it....

It was on the vertical face, and i have the forgiving sterling metallic paint, so any residual bonnet marks on black are probably going to be more visible for you, but a quik clay pack

is only going to set you back fifteen or twenty quid tops, and you can do the whole car to get it gleaming for Jan, so it won't be money or time wasted!
