Just had insurance quote thru..was a bit steep concidering only use the zed as a second car, got fantastic quote from SAGA of £269 full breakdown and all the works..£150 excess with 2 drivers..renewal quote was £450...HAPPY CHAPPY :D

Im 50 and my 2.0 zed is costing me £202 fully comp with protected no claims with the AA. some times it pays to be older.
Cad :P

£350 here with Privilege including Legal and NCD protection, basic would have been £265. I probably could have done better but I've been with them for years and I'm lazy

Andi.

I just renewed mine - 3.0si Sport Coupe (with a couple of mods declared). Me & the Mrs insured (and she had a couple of non-fault claims in 2011) - £465 with low excess. What's really good is that we're both only 25 :D

That compared to £780 last year....

I did feel epic and I did surf on an inflatable crocodile!

Who was that with?!

I'm 21 with Admiral currently, my 3.0 Coupe cost me £1550 in one hit, my renewal is looking to be around £1900 :-\

Ouch...!

The £780 was with Admiral - they wanted a similar amount on renewal but did drop price a lot when I pushed them a bit harder. Funnily enough the renewal was with another of the Admiral group of companies though - namely Diamond Drive!!!!!!!!!( )

Due to the change in EU regulations meaning they cannot treat men and women differently they came out cheapest for me!!

Best of all I got free £200 cover if my handbag is stolen from my car. GET IN.

So last year my insurance was £380-ish, they then added another £45 when I moved house - all of 400 yards to a "worse" postcode.
Fearing the worst this year, I got on the case early & have got a quote from DirectLine for £202!!!. Result! - then the renewal comes in at £236.

Are all the girls' additional premiums now subsidising my insurance?

Jesus, good going! I will have to try similar tactics.

Good news about the hangbag cover....

I assume that had to be paid in one hit like mine? If I opted to pay monthly the quote went up to £12,250 something for the year... outrageous! :o

See my story above - not sure whether subsidising is the correct term - but I do think there has been a certain amount of leveling the playing field!! Probably the best year ever for us chaps!

I always pay in one hit a the APR charged is ridiculous!!! I you want to pay monthly it's cheaper to get a personal loan from Tesco bank (or similar) for 10 or 12 months - then use that to pay the insurance in one go! Probably takes APR from 20% down to 6%.

Just had renewal quote from LV for £340 all mods declared.
Matched by Chris Knott but with a lower excess.
LV have this year dropped the requirement to have tracker fitted ''due to the age of the car''

... insurance renewal up again to £963 being a second car with 7 years NCD, no motoring issues just yet, social + domestic & approaching the big 50 in a few years - I think not.

Quick look on that comparison site, didn't go for cheapest, choose one I know the name of - protect NCD, add key protection and because Class 1 business use worked out cheaper chose that as well... all for £330.

Now I'm feeling very smug today...

Yep saga..........

55 year old,

2006 z4 3.0si £278.00 comp

Certainly beats my ford capri 1600 gt in 1979 at £478.00 3rd party!!

For the first year in about 5 my insurance is cheaper by moving away from an Admiral multi car policy. It is also the first year in long time I've seen a big decrease in premiums to insure the wife and I. Z4M in central London was £410 for the year fully comp with protected NCB and a £350 excess in total. I have 15 years' NCB, 38 years old and this was through morethan. Guess they just wanted the business this year as they were 33% cheaper than anyone else.

It was the same story with my wife's Mercedes ML, bu that one through quotemehappy. Again the quote stood out on its own as being 33% cheaper than anything else.

I hit the ripe old age of 30 during the last year. Just got my renewal quote.

Where everyone has been talking about increases in the press, mine went down £150 to only £300 (only car, protected 7 years NCD etc) - which bearing in mind I was reasonably satisfied with the quote last year on a brand new car..... very pleased!!!!

Can only assume my age starting with a 3 made the difference! Age = good!!!

My dad is 53 and just insured his 911 997 Cs 6k a year for £247, and he got windscreen protection and AA breakdown with it.

Thats insane.

But then again im 24 3 YNC 8k a year with 3 points and insured my Z4MC for £750 this year.
