Aftermarket Radio with Factory Nav

Hi Guys

I'm sure this has been covered before but I can't find an answer.

Can you replace the factory radio (with inbuilt navigation) with an aftermarket radio? I assume not since the radio controls the nav, but thought I'd ask in case it is doable!

You can replace the headunit with an aftermarket system, but the screen will probably lose some functionality.

However - in the sense that anything is possible.. you could always gut the screen and do something like this http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=56746 if you're feeling brave!

Thought that might be the case!

That project looks a bit ambitious - I don't think I'll be doing that in a hurry!!!
