Aftermarket Paddle Shifter Kits, Part IV

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away ... Episode IV, A New Hope.

Beetoo-Wan sent a link the other day for these chaps here in America.

They seem legit and keen on the project. But since the E89 is a rare motor, they need a minimum interest of approximately 200 kits. And each kit would cost approximately US$229, plus tax, postage, etc. And TBD if an aftermarket paddle shifter would fit both the pre-LCI and LCI models. Meaning, there could be extra costs for extra design.

I'm willing to act as intermediary, pay for small admin costs, arrange for postage, perhaps bring with me when I visit family in Europe, etc.

Please let me know if this tickle your fancy. And if it does, please PM me your email address for me to build a list. And if you are near Nelson or have experience with them, please chime in.

Cheers,

Marc

I've been looking for a new shifter, coming from and being spoiled by Alfa Romeo its the part I hate most on the Z4. I already went for a cheap Aliexpress stick on but its still too short for my liking.

I'm down for this kit though. Just doubt on hitting the 200 mark.

Yup - dead in the water.

Probably no more than a dozen would be interested on here given the interest level on previous threads like this.

Looks like you are on your own - buy all 200 & let us know how you get on :)

I can help a little - I had a pre-facelift e89 & swapped the 'up&down' paddles with the facelift 'up/down' version - they were directly interchangeable. Hence only 1 design required.

Tooling & design time mean this doesn't make financial sense for a business to undertake, so I would expect a MOQ somewhere in this range TBH.

I think unless this is done by a hobyist with a dream & some manufacturing skills, it's going no-where.

Thanks, Mat.

Everything is negotiable. It’s unlikely 50 is a number carved in stone. Let’s first gather as many expressions of interest as possible. Do you fancy one ?

There was a lovely chap with mad technical skills that was ginning up an extended paddle. But he went MIA. Oh well.

nvdautosport.com seems to do custom carbon work but would probably need the design in some way to produce it. Found them originally for carbon side markers seems like they're the only ones out there that actually produces it
