I currently have a head unit running android 8 and we suspect it is starting to malfunction as recently the roof has stopped working via the dash buttons (it works when lowered via the key, and can then be put back up via the dash button) and carista is unable to read any dates from the car. My husband thinks the head unit could be flooding the cam bus as it is so old or that it could be a module to operate the roof at low speeds (mine is 2010). Haa anyone experienced any issues like this in the past? What her unit do people recommend as a replacement in case that is the issue?

Without knowing how the android unit interfaces with the rest of the car its impossible to comment..
The obvious gold standard solution is to remove the unit /disconnect it and see if normal service resumes...
No shortage of later versions.. HiFi Max do some of the best but most expensive..
