After-Market Sat Navs

I need to buy a Sat Nav to get me all the way down to the South of France in the summer. Unfortunately I will be driving in a Ford Galaxy, not my Z :(

Can anyone recommend a good after-market sat nav. I've never owned one before and am amazed at how different they are in cost.

I've heard of the usual Tom Tom, Garmin etc, but don't know where to start. Obviously I'll need one that has UK and Europe.

Thanks in advance for any help

I use a cheap TomTom one XL for European road trips (in addition to my own BMW systems of course).

Less then £100, can't go wrong and has the French speed camera locations on it as well.

Another vote for the basic TomTom One. I've got the non-XL version and it's awesome. Around the £100 mark with Euro mapping.

I find the iPhone apps fine for me...the apps use build in maps so they don't need an Internet connection abroad, android phones also have co-pilot which is pretty good.

Will it be for the one trip if so do what i did print off your routes from here http://www.viamichelin.com/ i did 1400 miles on a four day road trip it was a doddle finding my way around with the routes i printed.

Always had Tom Tom's and found them very easy to use,the one i've got at the moment is a Tom Tom One i think with euro maps and have used it the last three years whilst on holiday in spain and it has never failed me
