After 5 weeks of rain I get to drive my Zed.

Welcome to Autumn 2015. If you have stayed in the UK, chances are you haven't seen too much great weather since September. Since then my Zed had done a princely 13 miles to the Petrol station and back. The rest of the time it has just rained every day here in the SW.

So this morning I was sat in work looking out of the window at glorious sunshine and it was too much to bare. A polite e-mail to the boss and booked an afternoon off. :) The surf was up, but it has been pumping every day for a week so only one thing to do. Get the Zed out and set it free on the moors.

We set off towards North Cornwall and after 10mins sat in some unexpected road works. :tumbleweed: me and the Zed were together again and off the leash :D We skirted the main roads and revelled in the traffic free dips crests and glorious straights of some of my favourite B roads. Darting between dry stone walls and hedge rows on bone dry tarmac, the air box sucking in the wonderful cool autumnal air and helping the S54 sore to its epic barking red line time after time. :driving:

After around 40 miles of totally absorbed driving I spotted a familiar land mark and pulled in for a few snaps.

They still hold regular services at this church. The vicar has an old Disco that him and his wife park a few meter bellow the sumit. Every one else has to walk up.

After the peaceful contemplation of Brent tor, it was onward through South Devon, via the picturesque market town of Tavistock, with it's historic Abbey Bridge, first built in 1764, then a right turn off the main road and upward onto the Granite expanse of Dartmoor.

With the pace settled by the 40mph limit throughout the moor, it was time to engage 6th and enjoy the sparse open view, darkened now by the the next threatening weather front, moving in from the North West and the encroaching darkness, as the shortness of the day showed it last energy.

Then after the last few miles of joyous open moorland, faded behind us, me and the Zed returned to the sanctuary of home and a warm Garage, Till the next time my little Grey friend. :driving:

Top times bg :) enjoyed that
The pleasure of taking the car from the garage awaits me this weekend & after 5 weeks i'm really looking forward to hearing the engine & boxes play their tunes :driving:

nice picks, but if you had sorn your vehicle you could have saved 2 months tax. today when the weather was great you could have just put the tax back on it, ok you will have to have paid back to the beginning of december but you could have saved paying tax in november and october

It was so nice to be back behind the wheel of the Zed.

Looking at your neck of the woods. I see that Malham Cove is briefly a water fall once more. I've studied that area as a sixth form Geology student, 37 years ago. Some great walking & driving country. :)

That has to be worth a drive if it not dried up straight after the storm.

Great to see someone out and about! Thanks for sharing
Here in the North West we are all just waiting for a let up in the incessant rain :(

Great write up!

I was tempted by Malham today however it was under deep black clouds. Been good to see the waterfall though

Some interesting driving roads around that area. Though I've probably ridden more of them, before owned a car, than I have driven. We did get up that way this summer and drove from the lakes via High Bentham and Slaidburn, on our way to North Wales. Better than the M6 any day. :D

Must find time to write that trip up on here.
