Afermarket HID solution..

The only beef I have is the stock Halogen headlights... I got a quote from the dealership where I purchased the Bimmer, and they gave me a quote for (Headlight assembly, wiring harness, balancer, and Xenon bulbs), with labor for $6000 ($3000 parts, $3000 labor). I really cannot afford this option... Does anyone know any Xenon solution?? Any ideas will be appriciate it.. Such a great car with yellowish headlights.. Maybe there is a aftermarket Xenon setup, or headlights? I know the computer in the car needs to be adjusted for the Xenon system, because it will show a faulty light. The Mtec HID kit claims plug-and play, and they say there wont be any faulty reading, anyone tried this kit?... I will appriciate any thoughts..... Thank you!

Dealer price sounds about right and utterly out of the question.

Have a search on the forum as several members have installed aftermarket HID, some have had issues with water, but I suspect that's how they mounted them and recently BlackSapphireZ has done a neat job of retrofitting BiXenon into the halogen housing.

The Z4 does not seem as prone to lower wattage headlight 'light out' indicator as some other BM's

yea I had aftermarket HID's already in my halogens without flicker nor bulb out warning. NOT M-TECH ones but I took a gamble and it worked. I only installed bi-xenon projector.

So you just bought a standard H7 kit and it was pretty much plug and play? I know there have been many discussions but it seems like there is still some confusion on what will work and in which years. I did a swap on my E36 and other than the occasional light out indicator it worked just fine.
Is there a difference in xenon and bi-xenon kits? It has been a while since I last looked into this.

Jesus, 6 grand for hid's? Just get a plug and play kit and mount the ballast in the inside panel near the foglight. Hell, I even got mine from ebay a year ago for $105 shipped. The same seller now even has them for $70 shipped. Never had a warning light or any problems. Other people on other forums have had good experiences as well. Email me if you want the sellers name. If you want the brand name, search around for mtech and see what people say.
