Aerodynamic Body Kit

Hi,

Anyone have the OEM aerodynamic body kit to their zed? I think it looks pretty good (in the accessories brochure that is).

The price for the parts is £850. Anyone know how much it costs to be fitted?

There are laods of pic knocking about on here. Personally I think just teh side skirts need doing. Really hate the look of the rear and the front looks a little bit too over the top.

i dont rate this kit. If you kit something you want it to stand out....this is just tooooooooooo subtle.

I think the front looks great if you want a more aggressive look and prefer it to the facelift design. Side skirts are great and look neat, rear spoiler is horrble, just spoiling the lines (and has been debated many times with all options posted) Undertray/ diffuser looks a bit Halfords bolt on.

Personally I think there are better ways for less money to make the Zed look better. I'd go M front and those sideskirts for a 'look'.

Edit - Expect £500 to £1000 to paint and fit, depending on who yu find and how keen they are on this sort of work

Does it have any impact on insurance? Will I have to inform my insurers if I add the kit?

M bonnet and aero side skirts complement a few of the existing lines... they would be my two main updates to just get a normal one looking more aggressive. I really like the oem front bumper... facelift and M ones don't really work as well with the rest of the car imho...

When I have the supercharger on (if I ever do), then the bonnet and side skirts will be done too

Yes - you need to tell them about something like this, likely won't affect the premium at all, but say if you crash, or if someone damages the car and does a hit and run then the insurance company may not pay up as the car is no longer as described.

I like the front bumper, the side skirts compliment the body slightly but are still quite subtle and the rear just looks like the designer got fed up and didnt bother

You see, if you are some random woman not into cars and just get this because you like the colour/shape, will they REALLY know it has an aerodynamic kit?!

I think if it was factory fitted, forget declaring it. If it was possible to be factory fitted to that model, then I'd maybe consider declaring if you fitted it, but ultimately, when my car gets sold on, with it's M-sport seats, boot floor elastic net, and 107's instead of 108's, etc etc, I doubt ANY person would think to declare the changes as it's all just OEM BMW stuff!

I really like the look of my car as it is, but the pics of the kit do look good (less the rear that is).

csmith319 - Thanks for the advice. I will definitely consult my insurers first before doing anything - insurance is not something to get wrong in my view.

i really like the aero front bumper, way meaner than the stock 2003 bumper.

in the process of having the front bumper changed to aero, and it ain't cheap. around $1100

my bmw dealer said bmw does not ship out painted bumpers, they're all either bare or primed, but yes looking at realoem, there is an option that is painted

correct, you have to declare all additional accessories you put in the car, whether stereo and speaker upgrades, body kits, rims, etc.

I have been thinking of fitting this kit, but going with the facelift rear Carbon Diffusor on a pre-facelift car rather than the horrible afterthought peice of plastic (IMO, apologies to anyone with it fitted) that is shown in the pictures.
