Aero Sills/Skirts

I am thinking of selling my Z4 so was going to remove all the good stuff, these were the last new genuine sideskirts in the UK, so the dealer told me when I purchased in Oct 2018. I will be removing these and the front aero bumper also, finished in SILVER. I will post these for sale at the time inline with the forum rules. My main issue is the amount to ask for them as I am reading that £1K is an acceptable price? these cost me £750 when you take into account the paint and fitting!

I bought a pair of aeros last year and that seems to be around the going price, but you could always have a look through the Sold adverts in the classifieds.

PM’d you scoobyR1. Happy to pay £1k if you can give me first refusal on these. Don’t think I’m going against any forum rules here as it’s my wanted ad this was posted on. Please get in touch and let me know?

Exactly :D Always worth a punt!

Huge thank you to ScoobyR1 for giving me regular updates whilst waiting for these to come off. Then getting them over to me packaged nicely & in great condition! Properly chuffed, didn’t think I’d find a set of genuine ones again!

Finally back from the body shop & on the car :D

Looking great mate! Glad you found a set in such good condition from someone who went the extra mile to get them to you!

I’m still waiting patiently :tumbleweed:

Thanks mate. Keep bumping that wanted post every week. If it’s always on the first page, that’s the first place people will go on here to get an idea of what the last ones sold for.

Looks ace mate. How are you finding the KW V3 by the way? Also do you have spacers on?

Had a bit of a nightmare with them at first. Gave Ross free reign setting up the ride height & had a read for bump & rebound settings through the forum. Looked ace when I picked it up but after a week of driving it was harsh and rubbing in all corners. Actually smashed a hole in the undertray & ripped another hole in one of the front wheel arches.

Anyway ended up emailing Julian at balance motorsport to take the car down there to have it setup properly because so tried & I was counting different numbers of clicks on each side for bump & rebound. Trying to adjust the ride height was a nightmare as well because the instructions tell you to measure from centre of the wheel to the arch as well as adjustment on the coilover. Obviously when you’re measuring the arch then making an adjustment on one side it’s going to affect the other corner of the car. Impossible doing it that way.

Julian gave me a call & spent about half an hour talking me through it all. Which I thought was really above and beyond because I was willing to pay him to set it up but he said “this is how we do it, give it a bash, because it’s simple. If you’re still struggling then book it in & I’m happy to do it.”

Basically set it to maximum ride height settings all around, only measuring the coilover adjustment, not centre of hub to arch (still lowers front 10mm & rear 5mm from stock) & went to recommended KW settings for bump & rebound all around. You may get a difference of a mm or 2 when measuring hub to arch on opposite sides but Julian said to maintain balance & handling, ignore this. Also count clicks backwards from maximum hardness (max hard is +). They often come with different number of clicks on each side if you count them in total.

So my experience now is much more pleasant. The ride isn’t like driving on clouds but it’s definitely taken the edge off those harsh bumps going over undulations in the road or dirty pot holes. That’s still at recommended settings. Now I’m happy I’ll start making adjustments one at a time to go softer I think.

Don’t regret it at all & they were delivered in 4-5 weeks when quoted 8 weeks. I know people who ordered B12 kits before me & are still waiting past the 8 weeks quoted to them.

If you’re on the fence between the 2 go KW! No spacers required either. Loads of people have said the same. Not sure why they say spacers may be required. Ross reckoned you may well need them with club sports but even then I’ve read people don’t.

That's great news - now your car looks like it always should have done!

Every time I use my car I can't help admiring my aeros.

I believe you need spacers with KW V3s if you’re running OEM wheels or CSLs. I’m have Clubsports and wouldn’t need spacers except I have H&R ARBS, a BBK, and non-OEM wheels which all cause clearance issues of their own.

Yeah I saw it as they were setting up and post setup, it looked amazing.

Not surprised with Julian's support, he provides absolutely amazing customer service with top notch technical recommendations that is most cost effective.

This is one of the things that has me on the fence with KW V3, the option to continuously tinker which can be great but in my hands i will probably have to keep visiting experts to fix my attempted adjustments. So likely once set i will not touch it again. I am not planning on tracking the car, for now anyway so KW seems bit overkill for now.

Glad it has worked out in the end though! I am 4 weeks into my B12 order, they are saying October at the moment but something tells me it won't be ready by then. Which has me thinking about KW V3. I will likely get the installation done by Julian or someone he recommends so it is done right from the start. Lots to ponder. I was thinking of putting the few quid i would save by going with B12 into a carbon roof but who knows it may go to KW V3 if Bilstein continues to have delay :D

Don’t let this put you off. I thought the same when I was deciding between B12’s & KW’s. Thing that pushed me over the edge was the amount of problems I read about in regards to the B12’s. All in all it’s a tiny percentage of them but it was enough to persuade me. I won’t mess around with them much at all once they’re setup how I like & it isn’t difficult at all once you get your head around how they work. Literally takes seconds to make the adjustments on the front & a couple of minutes on the rear. It’s just nice knowing there’s a range to tailor to your wants because if I got the B12’s & didn’t like the ride. I’m stuck with it. However with KW’s you can tinker to get it where you want it.

Doing good mate. Hope you are well too! I have been going back and forth on these two for ages. You do make a good point. Maul it over for few days before i call Julian :)
