Aerial adapter - Z4 E85

I have a Z4 2004 3.0. I'm upgrading the head unit to a DAB/Sat Nav, Android thingy and I'm not sure if the OE aerial lead will plug straight in nthe back of this new unit or if I'll need an adapter. I think I have the OE aerial:


Is this amplified? If so, do I need an adapter which is powered from the power aerial output of the new head unit?

Forget the standard aerial if you are fitting DAB as it won't work due to the in built frequency filter within the amplifier at the base of the aerial. Get an amplified stick on aerial for the windscreen instead - just make sure you earth it correctly and then turn on antenna power in the head unit menus.

Hmm, thanks for the info. I still intend to connect the OE aerial as the DAB unit works from a dongle that is connected to a USB input (with it's own aerial attached. It's all good. Fitted a Joying Android unit, with DAB windscreen aerial, GPS antenna, separate mic for Bluetooth phone stuff. DAB channels added but not all in my home location though. The analogue aerial is connected via a FAKRA connector adapter and works well with that side of things.
