Hi,

I am looking at a z4 for sale 2.0l 2006 plate its priced at 5,995 pounds immaculate condition inside and out with 12 months mot and a new service, from a dealer. 74000 miles on the clock.
my question is, is this a good price please?

not really..
my first question is . is it a 2.0 you really want ? for that money there are some acceptable, albeit, probably higher mileage 3.0's

I think there's probably much better value for money zeds out there, don't buy without seeing 2 or 3 others first!

I recently paid £5800 for a late 08 reg, 3 owners, FSH, 44K with quite a lot of extras, (except heated seats).
I like the 2.0l but obviously the 2.5 or 3.0 are bigger 6 cylinder engines, more tax, more fuel, but at the end of the day it's about what you want, not what others think.
Have a good look at the alternatives, see if you get on with run flat tyres or will feel you need to change them, cos that will cost! especially see what extra features they have (which are also costly) but that price doesn't sound great to me.
There are a lot of nice ones around, especially if you are prepared to travel a bit, so enjoy looking around and accept you will get the one you want when you have seen a few others first. :) Good Luck, and let us know how it goes.

Quite a few factors here but as an overview,
2.0 - lighter and more chuckable in corners , better fuel economy - cheaper to run - 4 pot so harder to get a nice exhaust noise if you want it. Always cheaper than a 3.0.

3.0 straight 6 engine to die for - usually more toys, Better seats etc.

thank you all for your replies it is much appreciated. I called the dealer and hes not willing to knock anything off the price as he has said hes putting it through service, mot, rac inspection and renewing the seal around the windscreen which has cost a bit more than he anticipated. hes also filling the tank with fuel and giving a 3 month unconditional warranty. I am now wondering if this is now about the right price? with regards to engine I do feel that the 2.0l is more than adequate for my use and it will be my daily car so want something that isn't to thirsty.

It"s certainly no bargain. But you have seen it in the flesh. Have you looked at a few others. If possible you should always look at a few. I find it just keeps that impulse buy thing in check. The thing about the 2ltr is not it's performance. It is that it is noted as being a little less reliable than the 6 pot engines.

I would try some more before you buy, "marry in haste, repent at leisure" :)
Even if the one you are looking at goes, it's not a great deal and others will come up.

I agree with the above, that does seem a little steep. I picked up a 2004 2.2l e85 straight six (better engine sound!!), 1 owner from new, full service history, upgraded sound system, heated seats, racing steering wheel extra, 84k miles on the clock for £3000 (actually £2200 but it was a friend of a friend so I had some bargaining power!) I would do a bit more looking around before rushing into things. You can get a new seal on the windscreen as part of a screen replacement (£90 through most insurers!) And an RAC inspection is minimal, so don't let the dealer fool you into thinking that's cost him a lot! Good luck and we can't wait to see photos of whatever you do get!
