Hardly mate which means it's still an expensive car, as I said, I'd have it if he dropped it by a decent amount.

I'm looking at a 55 plate 3.0i SE with less than 40k on it and FSH in really good nick.

All going well, I'll do the deal as it's a lot cheaper than the 04 one at £8250.

I have no doubt some have gone, but of all the user and drivers it's not that common, compared to say broken springs. wouldn't put me off buying a facelift given all the improvements over the original.

My budget won't squeeze to the Si unless it's over 80k miles and I'm not wanting something high on miles as it's a 'keeper' for at least 3yrs+.
 
I bought mine with 52,000 and its on 75 a year later with no trouble at all. Its easy going to clear 100,000. Most cars do these days well looked after.

yep .. we have a 35is

I would purchase this over a SI ... better looking, best engine M54 ... all options easy to super charge etc .. I might even have a punt my self .. I think this is a lovely car and collectible with the full option list, only thing is it looks like it does not have the Carver HiFi system ?

Yep common failure items where deployed in the BMW range these electronic Pierburg commissioned pumps I'm afraid. I think failures are age related rather than mileage so if you have an N52 engined Zed I would suggest you consider some pro-active preventative maintenance in this area if you have an early one approaching the 9 year old mark. Problem is the mode of failure gives you no warning unless you are regularly reading codes. When it eventually decides to stop moving water you get a beep from the dash then unless you have managed to understand exactly what is going on within 20 seconds and had the foresight to move out of traffic to a safe parking position a few hundred yards later and wallop! Red light overheat and engine just shuts down. Quite dangerous if you are in busy traffic. There should really be a secondary back up pump to allow you to at least travel at 20mph or so to somewhere safe, but no it just stops.

If you can get a genuine Pierburg pump and good quality mapped thermostat fitted for £500 as someone has posted then that is a bloody good deal and you should go for it for peace of mind as your Zed reaches 9 or 10 year old. :driving:
 
Just to finish on this one as I've bought another Z4 today.

I didn't pursue it unfortunately as the price was a tad too high despite the spec/miles etc....

For those who may be interested, I offered 7.5k on it but the seller, nice guy, would drop to 7.75k but no lower for now.

I've just spent over a grand less on a 55plate 3.0i with 37k on the clock, not specced like this one but nice enough for my needs.
 
Glad you found one and look forward to seeing what you got. EDIT - now seen your other thread :)

It will be interesting to see if the other seller gets his price. I suspect as we enter the Winter he'll be sorry to have lost the sale for £250.
 
+1 your 7.5k offer was a good one especially at this time of year. The seller may well regret not accepting. I've always found that moving cars on quickly when selling is a far better approach than waiting endlessly for top money.
