Hey guys,

My linksys wireless router has recently decided to die on me and I am looking into getting a new one - but I am not sure which make to go for... I have tried to look at reviews etc and belkin seems to be a good one - but has anyone got any concrete suggestions for me?! I don't really want to spend more than £50...

Thanks!

Linksys is usually the best, I work in the industry and for home stuff I swear by them.

Instead of your PC World type places, take a look at:

On those two, this stands out for me:

Out of stock but 3-5 days is probably accurate.

Linksys are alright, but I prefer my Netgear - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-DG834G-54Mbps-Wireless-Firewall/dp/B0000TZ8Z8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1250268672&sr=8-2

Very good value for money, if you ask me.

Linksys (division of Cisco) are the longest surviving ones. I buy dozens and dozens of those each year. In order of reliability.

Worst: Dlink
Medium: Netgear
Best: Linksys or Cisco

I've got a load-balancing/bridging Draytek 2820N for my two ADSL2 connections at home. No good for you as it's over £50, but it's very good :P

Ive had my Netgear DG834G for years - it v1 model, without problems...

best bit I need on it is the VPN client for work - not many consumer market routers have that...

Draytek 2820N by far the best. But cost wise any netgear or linksys would do. Now as Andy says they are a part of cisco. however they actaully aren't cisco, they are linksys because they don't use the same technology. They are just branded items. If you dont want to spend alot then I would use a netgear, but it you want to do load balancing, vlan and multiple VPN then draytek. These are the best consumer dsl router on the market.

Quite fond of my D-Link Dir 655, older model now and superceeded but its given me no grief at all and it pretty quick too. Absolute doddle to set up.

Previously had a netgear (terrible and would hang in you had too many concurrent connections in certain p2p applications).
Linsky WRT 54 G - good solid route but lacked speed compared to the dlink - had some issues with mixed mode wireless devices (ie psp).

I also had a Linksys wireless router (WET54G) die on me last year. I replaced it with a Belkin N1 Vision and have been pleased. The range is far better than the Linksys, and the little LCD status screen is sleek and informative.

X2, had a DG384V3 for years no problems at all

Thanks for all the advice guys...

It turned out that my router was still in warranty - so Linksys have provided me with a replacement and it appears to be working ok!

I do have to say that Linksys customer service is great - even if they are based abroad!
