Hi all
Has anyone got (or had) an SLK 250 CDi tiptronic what's his face and can offer any advice on buying. I'm looking at a 2012 AMG styled model and am seriously tempted but know nothing about them at all

I know I know but it's an itch I want to scratch

I think it's more like a scab you want to pick!

I had a BMW 123d for over 6 years that I bought because I was doing business miles and getting a car allowance and mileage at the time (although it was a manual).

But then I bought my 1st E86 and I haven't looked back - I've had 4 straight 6 N/A petrols since then and really don't miss a 4 cylinder turbo-diesel!

And it won't sound too inspiring when you have the roof down, but if you've gotta do it good luck.

Left a reserve deposit on a 12plate diesel slk ...if I get it can I still be in the forum as its such a great place for friendship and knowledge

Can't see that being a problem, we have a few "porker" owners on here :P

Can we not ban the lot of them.

Oh hang on, some are mods.

Hopefully the forum is here to enjoy, as long as there are enough people enjoying it. :D

I test drove a 250 CDi SLK in 2012 and I quite liked it, I did a review on here afterwards and the only reason I didn’t go ahead was the fact that I got the E350 convertible. A few weeks back I had a 300 SLC as a curtesy car for the day whilst mine was in for some warranty work and it was bloody awful, they’d absolutely ruined the car in between :headbang:

I often had a side glance at the SLK, my history will prove that - I'd say scratch that itch and report back :driving:

Absolutely agree with your comments about the SLC 300. I had one for a short while in summer '18. Generally not a bad looking car and I thought the interior was a nice place to sit. It went like the clappers and the flappy paddle auto was great BUT it sounded like a tractor, the ride was ridiculously soft, roly-poly and under damped...not a patch on my old E85. Also wasn't impressed with the exterior build quality. Flimsy panels, shoddy plastics and trim...the grille was particularly cheap and nasty. Overall I was completely underwhelmed and disappointed  20180714_121607_Richtone(HDR).jpg20180714_122422_Richtone(HDR).jpg

Had an auto 250 cdi a few years ago - thought it was a nice looking roadster and the engine was strong with plenty of torque - more of a tourer than a sports car but enjoyed my mercedes experience overall .enjoy

Neighbour has one and really likes it... however to me it sounds very diesely (think old ford transit) when the engine is cold and would seriously try to find a petrol v6 example as that would be a great pairing.

Loving all the comments guys and girls so thank you  nipping up to Scarborough next week to see it...trouble is they're a bit stingy on the PX price on the zed

I bought a slc 43 amg , which is just a slk , new a few years ago and joined up to slk world . It's more of an American site but there's some good info on there , a lot about the number of diesel slks on forecourts . Apparently lots were bought on pcp or lease and there's a glut on the market so you could be in a good position to haggle the price down .
I've never driven the diesel version but they supposedly respond well to a re map . A mate of mine was going to buy one on the strength of the standard performance figures , if your of a certain age , they pretty much match a sierra cosworth in power , torque and performance :o how times have changed

Yes I am of that certain age...there are a lot on the used market I agree. Thanks I'll take a look at the SLK World.
Dont know whether to offer the car on the forum 'for sale' section as theres some nice bits on it or just haggle a better price at the stealer

At that sort of money you have to sell privately .
Good luck with the search .
