Hi All,

I'm going to look at a 2003 3.0i SE Z4 roadster tomorrow morning. I've been emailed the service history by the seller and would like your opinions:

P.D.I December 2003 BMW 0 miles
Oil service December 2006 BMW 12593 miles
Oil service February 2008 Specialist 25092 miles
Inspection II July 2009 Specialist 28104 miles

The services are not in the correct order (ie. should have been Oil, Insp, Oil) and the first oil service wasn't carried out until the car was 3 years old

Should I be concerned by any of this? - I know these engines are generally bullet proof - I'm just thinking more of it affecting the re-sale of the car.

Regards,
Chris.

Does'nt answer your question, but BMW have cocked up the service history in my car, I have owned it since new and it has been serviced on time but the history is incorrect,

As long as it was'nt run low on oil in the first 3 years it should be alright IMO as the oil service is not a big service a quick check of a few things at best, the important one missing is the inspection 1, which is where mine went wrong and was carried out after 2 oil services, BMW's answer was it will be alright the order will come right after the next service, thank's a lot BMWUK.

If its the right car for you use it as bargining point on price if you not 100% walk away and keep looking.

I'd agree i.e. probably not done the car any harm...BUT, so many Z4's out there, maybe keep looking. If you take a look at this link below, here is a list of what is supposed to be done on that service; instead that car just had an oil change and a new micro filter, plus a quick once over - in and out in 45 minutes. I don't understand why the dealer didn't tell the customer it needed an inspection, not an oil service, at the second service to be honest?

If I were you, I would not go to see the car. I personally only consider buying car privately if it has full FBMWSH and remaining BMW warranty. I said that because my first BMW 318i was bought from independent dealer, and I spent so much on replacing headgasket, oil leaks, etc. After bad experience, all my other BMW were AUC, and had extended warranty for them.

Here's how my 2003 has been serviced.

14429 05/06 oil service BMW

22345 05/08 oil service Indy

27633 06/09 inspection one Indy

Very similar to yours.

No problems in the 2 years I've owned it and I have no concerns. The first oil service could of been done a year earlier, but was done when the service indicator advised it should be done. Just as the one you're looking at would of been.

I bought privately and have never had a warrenty either.
