Advice on improving the security of Z4 while parked up on a drive

After the increasing reports in the news of car theft on the rise, I'm looking for some advice on things I can do to improve the security of my Z4 while its parked up on my drive?

Its not a daily drive so sits on my drive during the week and only is used at the weekends.

Does anyone still use a steering lock to slow down of put off a thief from stealing your car?

As above, steering wheel lock.
Cars that are being stolen are usually keyless entry/start, so not as much worry with an old-school lock system like the E85.
A classic case of newer isn't always better

Take out the starter fuse? Disconnect the battery?

Buy a guard dog and chain him to the car.
I'm with discloc and disconnect battery. Unless someone tows it it's safe. Or a wheel clamp?

With disconnecting the battery, you neef to remember you have to still available access the boot or the terminals in the engine bay,

This. A benefit of having a key! I wouldn’t worry too much.

I have a disklok, which is great but you do need to be very careful when you put it on so that it doesn't indent the leather or break the plastic trim on the lower steering wheel spoke.

+1 for wheel lock and an isolation switch on the battery. I had one on my E85. Very easy to use and convenient. Plus it helps to stop any drain on the battery whilst car is standing. The only downside I found is that the clock stopped working when the battery was isolated . So if you want a clock you have to re-set it each time you have used the battery isolation switch.

I bought the Milenco high security steering wheel lock after reading about the vulnerability of keyless entry systems (which is fitted to my Zed) and am impressed with the design and engineering of the device. It’s easy to fit and on tests massively exceeded the Thatcham standard for these type of security locks.

Agreed, ones which simply slot into the s/wheel are defeated by a hacksaw on the steering wheel itself.

Out of interest, that’s not my old Maldives I can see through the window?

I'm going to go down this route when I get time to install it. They do telescopic security posts as well. So when you collapse it? It sits flush with the ground level... tarmac or paving slabs etc.

In comparison with the Disclook, the milenco seems to have a general problem of wheel looks.

Seems as if you could easily uninstall the airbag unit and the complete steering wheel afterwards. Now you just need an spare wheel and your ready to go... :driving: :evil:
