ADVICE needed - ref tyres

hi peeps.

got a 2.5 Z4.
back tyres are now borderline, front tyres are like new.
ive just acquired a set of 4x rims with decent tyres on them, however as always the front are in far better condition than the rear.

my question is:
can i put the front tyres onto the rear rims so i have a decent set of 4x tyres on the car?
the difference is im running
Front - 225/40/R18
Rear - 225/35/R18

by putting the /40/ on the rears will it be a big nono?

thanks

Go check the measurements of the tyres your running again as it's not a normal set up

A staggered set up should have 255/35/18's on the rear

Also what width rim are you running front and rear? 8 front, 8.5 rear, or 8's all around?

definetly running on 108 splits:
Front - 225/40/R18
Rear - 225/35/R18

will have to double check about the 8" or 8.5"

Then for a standard 108 staggered set up you should have:

Front 225/40/18
Rear 255/35/18

Right now you are running a set up that has bigger wheels (rolling radius) on the front than rear and is wrong

No need to take a rim off to prove the rim sizes - just put a tape through and you'll see the rears are 1/2" wider.

If you find you have 8" rims on the rear then you could make a complete set of 225/40/18's and be OK

sorry to jump in here, but got a question, would these 5 series alloys fit Z4 or not?
sizes of the tyres are 225/55/17 and I think the alloy is 17 x 7.5" et20 (if this makes sense).

With all due respect to op start a separate thread and ask for this advice.

must apologise to all......
i said i was running 225's on all 4.

what a dick i felt when i realised i was running the 255's on the rear. therefore answering my own question.

No worries - that's why I suggested you double check :)
