Adjusting Pitch Of Headlights

My headlights seem to have a really low pitch and unless i have them on full beam i can barely see infront of me. I have tried adjusted them on the dash but that doesnt go far enough.

Does anyone else have this problem? How can i fix it?

Take it you have halogens.

The fix is simple enough

Park infront of a wall, garage door etc.
Turn lights on
Lift the bonnet
On each light unit you will see a white plastic allen key type socket
Turn it, I can't remember which way is which but one way will lower the light the other will raise it.

IIRC a11y posted some picutres showing the white adjusters.

Thanks Richard, I too think my lights are set too low - will have a look later.

Is there a good 'standard' to hight and how do you tell?! If you get what I mean...

I turned mine 2 complete turns i.e. 720 degrees, that comoing from a know centre height which dealer did after complaining I couldnt see.

Just remember to turn them back again before your MOT

I also raised the height of my headlights. It was very hard to see clearly in the dark on unlit or poorly lit roads. Cannot remember how many revolutions I turned the white adjuster, but using a brick wall in front of the car is a good idea. Plant the car on a flat surface before doing this. If you remember the starting point of the adjuster and note the amount of turning (like srhutch says, in Degs, then it's easy to do the same to the second lamp on the other side of the car.

In terms of 'knowing' an appropriate angle to have the lights, be sensible when adjusting and use the road and other road users as guide, and if no-one flashes, then you're probably okay.

I can only see one of the plastic white adjustors on my left headlight, this is the higher one, anyone know if this is the height adjustor? The right headlight has two one higher up and one lower down :-|
