Adaptive suspension replacement

My Z4 28i has failed its MOT on the front near side suspension leaking oil.
It’s the adaptive suspension which, I have been quoted at £750 for that one corner to be replaced. I would have expect the garage to tell me you need to do all 4 corners or at the very lease across the same axel.
The rear off side has misting listed as an advisory, so in the not too distant future could well need replacing.

To replace all corners is pretty steep at around £3000 on a car that’s worth about £10k.
Thinking to go down the after market with a Bilstein kit (non adaptive) which are around £1000, not fussed on the lowering aspect.

Are there issues with doing this or a better alternative?
Also recommend any garages in West or North Yorkshire to do the work.

Thanks

Lots have done the same, straightforward swapover.

You will also need the suspension ecu unpluigging under the bonnet & the adaptive suspension coding out, or you will get lights on the dash / bongs etc - again straightforward job, but you will need someone who knows how.

I've done it for a forum member, if I can manage it, anyone can :) instructions are on the tinterweb if you search.

Keep an eye out on autodoc, they often have the B12 kit for around £600 or even less. That's the 35is kit, but I assume for the 28i it's the same or very similar.

Some folks find the b12 kit a bit too aggressive on lowering..you could get the B8 shocks and suplex springs of the correct poundage instead?

The Bilstein is very cost effective and pretty good..IMHO

or you could do this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/385054638671

Someone on another forum purchased these a couple of years ago and said they worked well. I checked with him after a year of use and he is still satisfied.

You can get the adaptive shocks refurbed, there is a post about it on here. It’s much less for this to be done.
I’m not sure if they send you different adaptive shocks and keep yours to refurb for quicker turn around etc. worth looking into, it’s somewhere in the Netherlands if I recall correctly... you DHL it all over.

It’s another option which you could explore. It’s worth mentioning that a 28i with OEM adaptive shocks is incredibly rare.

You can get your existing dampers refurbished, an hour on the old google will find you a company that'll do them for you...
