Need some opinions on a refub I'm doing.
Got a set of silver AC Schnitzer Type IV alloys that I'm refurbing to look like Bi-Colour. I called AC on Friday and they want £19.00 each for the the black center caps so was considering alternatives and when in doubt... WRAP IT!!!
Caps look good wrapped I think and the AC Logo is a bit more visible when not under a camera flash so was thinking should I just leave it like that with a light coat of lacquer or try find AC Decals?
Now here's the problem... Finding AC wheel decals is like looking for hens teeth and the closest thing I can find are the ones below. The size of them are 42mm x 14mm and will not be flush like the genuine one's. (Genuine logo size is 50mm x 15mm)
The alloys will have a bit of a different look anyway as the AC logo on the Bi-Colour spoke is cast in and I have a set of silvers without the logo. When I spoke to AC last they said some silvers were embossed and some wasn't and there are no decals available from AC themselves but I might be able to find aftermarket ones elsewhere.
So question is do I leave center caps for now as is or do I get the above emblem's and stick them on even though they will be a bit smaller and not flush? Also should I lacquer or not lacquer the caps and see how long they last as it's not as if I haven't got loads of wrap left if I had to redo them.
Even better still would be anyone know where to get the right size decals for the center caps and the spoke?
So what do you think guys?
