Abuse . . .

Had my hood down on a cool evening stuck at the lights in town. Bloke crossing the road shouts out, "What do you think you are doing with your hood down in this weather!?" "It's always summer in here pal!" I retorted with a grin. That shut him up, Knobster!

Quick thinking

I was crawling through Lancaster city center top down last summer not long after I'd bought it, and this bloke walking past with his mates shouted out Bet you've got loads of money I just gave a dumb smile, but wish I'd shouted back Not any more
I don't count that as abuse really - him and his mates had clearly had a few and it was a harmless comment - even if completely wrong

Probably upset by the fact they've failed at life.

  so driving a 10+ Year old car is your definition of succeeding lol

I also have a 65 plate Fiesta ST, A house, some cash in the bank and a well paid, secure job.

Certainly seems like I'm doing fairly well in my book.

I choose to drive my 13 year old Z4 because I love it. I've had a Brand New Focus ST and I prefer the Z4, so there you go.

Some say getting married and having kids is succeeding at life. All depends on your goals. Not everything is material.

It's interesting to hear what 'succeeding in life' means to people.

I agree, I guess it mean different thing to different people.

Having had a very privileged childhood, growing up in a 8 bedroom house with a 25 metre heated swimming pool and never wanting for anything I used to be concerned as I started to get older that I wouldn't be able to give my children what I had (when I have them).

Now I am in my late twenties, very well paid job, 2 private pensions, saving and investments I am well on the road to being financially stable for what I hope is a long time.

Currently looking to buy my first house with my GF who is a commercial Lawyer (also paid well) with a price tag of £260k, I wear a Rolex, I wear Hugo Boss suits daily and Once the house is sorted it wont be long before an M4 make am appearance

I will be the first to admit I am materialistic and money is what I class as being successful, this maybe be due to my age and the older (or even younger) members of the forum may not agree and believe a family, friends, children, getting married etc is what makes you successful.

Would be interesting to hear what people think.

Successful means being happy to me, be it skint or well off. If you're happy then you are a lucky lucky person. :)

Happiness hits the nail on the head!

Obviously different thing make people happy, maybe calling the OP a w***er is what made the other guy happy lol #succeeding

Thanks for your thoughts - I think I might start a new thread on this topic :)

Was always striving for financial security from early age & worked 7 days a week through my 20,s & 30,s
Then in my 40's i realised time was more important to me than anything else so take at least 10/12 weeks a year off (without pay as self employed )
Id agree with John , you can be happy & content with a little money but miserable & unhappy with lots

The geezer (or geezeress) out there who is having the most fun is the most successful I reckon.

The enjoyment of open top driving - well if that makes me a w*n*e* then gesture and shout away . . . .

Being 'time rich' is a big help . . . . every drive is a bonus.

So many sad people out there OP - last night I drove 200+ miles home on the M56, M6, M42, M5, M40, A404(M), M4 and A329(M) and was frequently obliged to explain why they were potential nut-twirlers!

Time rich is a lovely place to be - I maybe could get a job but then if I don't have to why would I? (Just hope my current Z4C doesn't throw me a big bill - at least for a while)!

But apparently I need at least another 6 bedrooms before I approach nirvana........

Bloke that works in the local bookies told me I have a mid-life crisis car today.

The last one was a few weeks ago when I was called a convertible w***er!
