abs pump bleed

Afternoon All.
So I have just removed my abs pump / module and had it rebuilt by ECU Testing and now I have it back on the car and am unsure what way to go with it regarding getting the whole system rebled as obviously i have the spongy and firm brake pedal. A garage down the road quoted me 60 quid and mt local BMW indy has quoted 100 and that's assuming its straightforward! My brother in-law has a OBD programmer unit ( quite a good one apparently ) and used to be a mechanic so he know's whats what to bleed the system but we are unable to do it for a few weeks which means the only option is to take it to a garage if I want to get it back on the road anytime soon. Would / should most garages have a clue about this sort of thing or should I be taking it to the specialist that wants to charge me what I think is a fair bit of money?
Thoughts on this one please would be most appreciated.

Hi Andy,

Yes, this is relatively straightforward - there is a bleed/cycle function that is accessed/activated from INPA which should be used for this (possibly accessible from other OBD plug-in untis as well). So long as whichever garage (or your BIL) is using that, you should be OK. If they're not, then I'd look elsewhere.

Given that the brakes are quite an important safety aspect of the car, unless it's going to be sat up until your BIL can taker a look at it, I'd pay the monies to have it done properly. (£60 doesnt sound too bad tbh).

[ref]andyrich1512[/ref], Whereabouts are you?
There's a few members with INPA that may be able to help you out?

Thanks guys for the replies. Yes I suppose as long as the garage has the right kit to actuate the pump during the bleed process then 60 quid is pretty fair I think also. I'll give the local garage another call and just clarify this as I dont want to take it into them only to find they dont really understand what needs to be done and I'm 60 quid worse off with spongy brakes still.

I'm based in Ipswich by the way.

Thanks again!
