I have had both ABS pump failure and Steering angle sensor failure which manifest themselves with similar but not the same combinations of warning lights. I have found the forum very useful and full of ideas regarding both faults but there is also some confusion between the two so I thought I would share the benefit of my experience.

ABS/DSC Pump Motor failure - seized brushes. Fault Code 5DF0 - DIY brush repair kit available on Ebay
AMBER ABS / BRAKE / DSC Lights
The ABS Pump motor failure due to seized brushes is well documented and can be fixed by either sending it away or as I did buying the new brushes and installing them. This meant removing The ABS / DSC unit. Drilling off the Peens securing the motor. Disassembling the motor, re-soldering in the new brushes and then reassembling the pump using araldite to secure the Motor to the Aluminium pump housing. I have also drilled and tapped 3mm Dia x 4mm deep into the pump body and fabricated 2 securing bars.

Kit included brushes and a new bearing, important to measure shaft set to bearing before disassembly. ( I used a disc cutter to remove inner race) The fault lights cleared and no reprogramming was required. ABS fully functional after brakes bled using INPA tool to activate ABS motor pump.

Steering Angle Sensor Failure - Fault Code 5E40 - SAS replacement
AMBER BRAKE / TPS / DSC Lights
This proved much more difficult to actually diagnose.
When the lights first came on the car pulled left but subsequently was ok - I thought I had a flat. I used an ICarsoft to diagnose the 5E50 Steering angle sensor fault and INPA to subsequently investigate further.

The only fault was 5E40 - DSC button would not reset , TPS button would not reset
With INPA

Under Steering wheel angle there were no faults logged
Under steering angle offset - 0 Deg
Wheel speed sensors all operating normally
DSC Pressure sensors all normal
Steering Wheel Angle checks lock to lock Appeared and I say Appeared again - Normal
Steering Angle Sensor Wiper Voltages lock to lock were intermittent and bounced to Zero a few times.

Forza a local Indy confirmed the SAS to be at fault and quoted £80 + Parts to replace which I thought was a very reasonable charge so left it with them to remove the column and replace the SAS which was the thick end of £250 purchased from Sopers
I Had the wheels 4 wheel Laser aligned and adjusted to ensure all was square.
I inspected the brushes in the SAS and all appeared normal with no excess wear or dirt but could not do any further testing.this is what they looked like

The SAS is on Ebay for sale if anyone wants to fix it.
I don't doubt that many people have "fixed" these faults by charging batteries, changing, brake pads, wheel sensors or underpants but I just thought I would share in case it might help anyone else who is trying to deal with these annoying failures and working their way through the many helpful posts. I updated my original queries on the back of others posts which seemed to invite further discussion which I did not want to pursue.
This is my personal experience only.
Oh and I am finding my way around INPA - who designed that ?
