Abs,brake light came on no speedo 17.000 mi on a 2006 z4m. Dealer said that they cant comunicate with the abs,dsc module, They checked the wireing power and grounds, data bus every thing ok needs module.
Any one with experance on this. There is a fuze in position 32 middle row second from right of the fuze box it has a 7.5 amp fuze but it is dead on bolth sides of this fuze. The fuze is good. The rest of the fuze box is live. On the card it shows picture of a engine.
Next under the hood at the hevy batt connection on the fire wall there is a wire that is spliced into heavy bat cable then it goes to a plug that is snaped into the bat cable cover. Then it runs into the main wireing box on the drivers sied back of engine compartment. Dose anyone know what this wire is for it comes out of the main bat cable but has no power at the plug.

When this happened to me six months from new it was part of the ECU module gone u/s and had to be replaced and the car reprogrammed. :(

I had this 12 months ago. It would happen at start up, turning the engine off and re-starting it wouldn't happen.
It occurred intermittently over a couple of weeks, usually when the car hadn't been used for a couple of days or after short journeys.

It ended up being simply a new battery required. Since putting on a new battery never had the problem again.

An Indy told me, our cars have to go through so many electrical checks before start up. That if the battery is weak, the ECU is clever enough to work out power is required to start the engine so it doesn't complete all it's electrical checks. (I.e DSC, ABS lights remaining illuminated). Mine was rev counter as well as speedo not working.
