AAAAhhhh !!!! annoying Puncture light on ! No puncture

My puncture light has come on twice now ! the pressures are all spot on no difference between the 2 sets ! why oh why is it coming on ! any ideas / help appreciated ! on the brighter side the pup sailed through his mot no sweat ! :)

yes totally as per , checked all the pressures totally accurate with an aircraft gauge not even ,5 between either pair , car is beginning to bug me , thinking of going back to audi to be honest too many niggles and ok the kudos of an M is nice performance etc but thr ttrs is looking handy but oh so ugly ! ive done the reset twice now

I had this happen when I first bought my 5er. Swapped from the dreaded run-flats to standard tyres, but changed from 18" to 19" wheels at the same time. Had three weeks of problems with the warning system. Reset it (as per instructions) - fine for a couple of hours, then it came back. After the fourth reset, for some reason it decided it was happy again. Since that point - fine. Then changed two tyres. Same again. By the third or fourth reset, it had settled down again...

If you have the passive monitor system with no sensors inside the wheels, the ABS sensors may just have some dirt in the way, causing some pulses to be missed here and there.

As always with strange electrical behaviour, ensure your battery is healthy.

no i dont think so the car doesnt feel bad , i would feel that , on top of that it has been to bmw twice in the last 3 weeks as im obssessive about it and the boys there are personal friends they like the car nearly as much as me but thanks telstar

If its really annoying just remove the fuse to the sensor. You have an ///M with non rft's so if you do get a puncture you'll soon know about it.

As said above, could be an ABS sensor/ring issue, I learnt in the winter how a patch of ice can make it think one wheel is lagging behind the rest and then start telling you there's a flat tyre.

LOL! Now there's a practical idea. We don't need no stinkin' puncture sensors!

Unfortunately, that fuse powers some important computers besides puncture sensors. It appears some safety engineer figured on someone like inkey$ would be about and made it impractical to disable the system. One could remove the warning lamp though, removing the instrument cluster isn't that much harder than accessing the fuse box. But then, I suppose that would trigger the lamp out warning. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

I really hate devices that FORCE us to let them to protect us from ourselves. I'm all for safety devices, as long as I can choose when and where to employ them.

Damn those Bavarian electronics monkeys for once again thwarting my quest for a simple yet effective life.

Sounds crazy I know!- but I've had mine come on a couple of times going over a particularly bad local road surface- when car is well loaded- can only think the 'humps' in the road compresses the tyres and alters radius so much it thinks its got a flat-!
