AA Parts and Labour cover - well worth it!

I've had this for about 4yrs and really recommend it. For those who don't know you pay a small amount each month (around a fiver) and if you have a problem that the AA can't fix they'll pay upto £500 towards it. (parts and labour)

Its like a low level warranty but one the company doesn't try to use every loop hole out there to get out of it. Over the years I've claimed for the following:

* complete set of replacement coils and plugs
* New Alternator
* New Engine Mount
* Fuel Pump replacement

All of these apart from the coils and plugs was for the maximum amount. So needless to say I've had my moneys worth.

The only stipulation is that you have had to call the AA out to look at the problem. From there its up to you where the car goes to get the repair, as long as its VAT registered. And its up to you / the garage what parts they fit, genuine BMW or pattern parts.

They also do multi-car policies that cover upto 3 cars :thumbsup:

Just thought I'd pass this on to my fellow Z4'ers as it gives you great peace of mind. So next time that alternator fails or that roof motor fails (well you can't continue your journey with the room down if it starts raining) then you call the AA out, get them to take the car to your favourite Indy and get £500 towards the bill :thumbsup:

They used to, but don't think they do anymore.

Thanks Mark what a great post may look into this , for 60 quid a year or a full tank of fuel sounds like a winner :thumbsup:
 
Ive had this for a few years, claimed for quite a lot (£ thousands) on my previous Lotus.

however the fault does have to mean that your car cannot continue its journey.

I am currently trying to claim for a faulty Vanos, but they have said it doesnt stop the car from driving so it doesnt count, however if I dont get it fixed and it does go, it wont be covered because I was aware of the problem.

but in general it is a great warranty, and covers more than most, just be aware it is a 'breakdown' warranty (even if you have to break it yourself) :o . and you have to follow rules in order to claim
 
Interesting one that Vanos thing, I was hoping I'd be covered. If the Vanos started acting up I would be getting some rather unpleasant noises from the engine bay. My argument with them would be can they guarantee that continuing my journey will not further damage the engine? Bear in mind I very much doubt the AA Patrolman will be able to 100% say its Vanos, so will have to recover it to your Indy for diagnosis. At that point its down to how your Indy position it with the AA.

You look at two of my claims above - plugs/coils? I just had a misfire and could have driven home no problem. Engine mount? Just had a knocking noise from the engine bay. Again not a show stopper. Both claimed without issue or any attempt by them to not pay.

Thanks for the informative post! One question, if you have to call out the AA first to assess the problem, I assume then you need to sign up for AA breakdown cover too (or is it included)? Thanks...
 
I havent normally had any issues, I suppose it depends if the person answering the phone is having a bad day, Im going to ring and try and argue about the issue, Ive got nothing to lose.
 
you need to have both, which works out about £11 pre month per car.

absolute bargain really.

but yes you do have to call them out first otherwise they definatley wont pay out.
