A white coupe?

I'm new here but hoping to get myself a coupe soon. I have seen a 2008 97k 3.0 sport in white, and the vendor is telling me they command a premium because there weren't many made etc. Presumably they weren't made cos they weren't ordered cos they weren't liked. Am I being spun a line?

Personally, I quite like it, although the wheels are a bit unusual...17" style 71. But then I like the blacks too, so I'm not sure it's worth any more to me. But I don't mind adding a bit if it comes back around when I sell it.

What d'y'all think?

White is rare on the coupe. They look great in white. And dark. Choose one you like and enjoy :driving:

A forum member put together a database (http://perso.numericable.fr/tonyz4c/production.html) and based on that the UK got 24 White Coupes, so they are indeed rare!

If it has 17" wheels (and they are original) I'm guessing it is an SE model - in which case it would have come with the "Sport" seats as standard rather than the much more desirable "M-Sport" seats that Sport models had, so any price premium for White would be offset by the far less popular seats IMO. In case it helps with identification Sport models also had a black headlining as standard.

My 1st Coupe was Ruby Black, but for my 2nd I wanted a colour! With Red and Phoenix Yellow being about as common as rocking horse poo I went for Montego Blue.

Good luck with finding the right one.

Photo is of "M-Sport" seats.

I guess the question is... Is it worth the premium to you? If not then it's probably not the right car for you

I think you are spot-on when you say "Presumably they weren't made cos they weren't ordered cos they weren't liked" but fashions change I suppose. I actually think the coupe looks good in white particularly with a black gloss roof. Although owners ask a premium I'm not sure they actually sell for any more. Finding a white one that's good for you might be tricky and will require compromises.

If he's demanding a premium for a white SE coupe then walk away, it was just an unpopular colour (and imo not a very nice one)

I have never liked white cars; never had one either, but it does look nice in white. However, colour has never been a priority. If I can get it for the right price I'll be happy. If not, there are others out there.

I must agree about the gloss black roof though!

White was reserved for police cars and builders vans .. it only became fashionable in the last few years

There are very few around because at the time people associated the colour with the above

Silver was the biggest seller at the time, yet now is not so popular

I wouldn’t pay a premium for one .. condition is more important than colour on an old car

X2. I wanted a Stratus Coupe, but the prices were crazy. Ended up getting a steal of a deal on the Titanium one. Be patient and the right car at the right price comes along. Takes time but worth it.
