A return to the fold......

A slightly unusual tale.... I can’t really call myself a complete newbie as I used to be on here around 8 years ago. Back in 2007 I bought my first proper new car - a 2007 Z4 Coupe. I saw the concept in 2005 and fell in love, and had to have one. I spec’d it just as I wanted it. And very happy I was - lots of road trips, was our wedding car, was our friends wedding car. Predictably, 3 years later I needed to sell it for a deposit for a new house. The right move at the time...

I sold it to a work colleague, who looked after it for another 3 years before kids came. I used to see it in the work car park and always looked back fondly.

I kept an eye out on the classifieds and have always thought that it would be nice to see it again. And to my surprise earlier this week - there it was! Long story short, I called the seller first thing next morning, placed the deposit and went to see it that day. A 30 minute blast bought it all back... so with the benefit of a very understanding wife, I have my old car back!

It’s a stratus grey SE spec car. I specifically went for SE as I like B road diving and found the m sport suspension too stiff and I much preferred the thinner steering wheel. But I wanted m sport seats, and better leather (New England leather upgrade so full door panels), carver hifi, xenons, cruise, heated seats and the big option for me, the star spoke alloys that were only an option on SE cars. They were the ones on the Z4 coupe concept which caught my eye in the first place.

Now on 73k miles. Previous owner has looked after it well (thank you if you’re still here!) - has had the usual broken rear springs replaced, a headlight bulb went and the tyres have been swapped to Eagle F1-non runflats (huge improvement as I never swapped off the RFTs). Suspension probably could do with an upgrade at some point, and I think I need to put some foam back in the sound generator as it’s a bit too loud for me (think they’re both out based on how loud it is!).

Pics below. The one on the drive is when I originally owned the car, and the other is from the sellers website. Look forward to getting back into the z4 forum. I’m also on F30post as I’ve got a 330d as my daily. The Z4 is a keeper.........

Welcome back. You are the second person this week to return some years later after buying back their own car (or dads old car).

Welcome back, I love stories like that. I've spent the last few years periodically checking the for sale ads to see if my old MINI JCW (My first brand new car) ever came up for sale!

Can’t believe the good wife let me do it to be honest, but I think she’s secretly pleased too! Just need to make some space in the garage now!

Welcome back OP.

That is a great story; you've now got the car you bought new with the spec you chose - perfect!

And aren't E86s addictive.

Welcome back

Nice coupe, unique alloys I think I remember seeing this car way back, not sure if yourself or subsequent owner, but nice one :driving:
