A question about the DISA

Bored as hell today during lockdown so decided to use the upgrade kit from i6 which I purchased about a year ago purely as a preventative job. Car is the 2005 2.5SE and has covered just under 60k miles .
Not much play anywhere with just a miniscule movement at the pin. No problem with swapping components over but noticed with everything back in place that when you twist the flap it pushes a plastic (actuating)arm into what I assume is a diaphragm. It all feels nice and smooth until about 90% of the available travel that there is a kind of clicking sound and the arm jumps a bit when it reaches its maximum movement. The arm similarly clicks and jumps slightly when releasing the pressure on the flap.
As I didnt have any problems with the DISA before fitting the i6 upgrade can I assume that this is normal or is it pointing to an upcoming issue with the unit as a whole.

Hi. Overhauled mine a few months back on wifey's 2.5i and do not recall anything like that when I checked it's movement. I pushed the flap to it's full travel and let it return. No clicks, no arm jumping? So to me, yours doesn't sound quite right.
I'm guessing you didn't check before you overhauled it, to see if it did it before?
Apart from checking to be doubly sure that it's assembled correctly, I cannot think what else you could do.
I'm also not certain how far the flap moves in operation? Maybe it never travels that far?
Can you see which bit is catching? Flap? Arm?
 
I see that both X8R and i6 have two versions of the kit for the 3.0 and 2.2/2.5 engines, so there must be a difference between them - possibly in the arm that engages the diaphragm. Is it possible you may have the wrong kit?

Thanks for replies. It is the right kit and I am sure it is fitted correctly. Didnt put it back on the car yesterday so checked its operation again. It actually is very smooth when the flap is turned and the arm moves fine into the diaphragm. It slams back ok when you let go of the flap but it is on this return that it clicks at the diaphragm and the arm moves slightly.
As suggested the flap might not open all the way so probably not worth worrying about.
Incidentally I always thought a replacement unit was over £300 from BMW and still featured the suspect pin but I see you can buy them on ebay for less than £40. Anyone tried an ebay one.
 
Closest thing I noticed when I overhauled my DISA was similar but not a click, more like a resistant push against a rubber diaphragm?

It bugged me as I thought there was something wrong with the armature or internals, however I just tested the vacuum was there by moving the mech and placing my thumb over the small hole- which held the movement until removed-

I reinstalled and its all ok?
